Over the past 32 years there have been hundreds of bands that have graced our stages. We take great pride in presenting groups and fresh talent to our audiences. There have been some bands that have captured our interest and our hearts. The first may have been the Kentucky Gentlemen, they were an unassuming group of men with an undeniable talent and a gift for playing traditional Bluegrass that our fans love.
Grey Eagle entered our lives 10 years after we opened our gates, their talent was exciting and new to our audience and we formed a special bond with the Grey Eagle band. Grey Eagle played Salt River Acres long after they were together as a formal band, we always had a place for Grey Eagle in our schedule and we knew they would always deliver a quality performance.
Full House submitted to perform at Salt River Acres, but it took several years to work them into our schedule. Full House struck a chord at Salt River Acres and have been performing here ever since. Tim Kerns, an acoustic instrument virtuoso, was performing with Grey Eagle when we met him. At one point in time both Grey Eagle and Full House were performing at our festival at the same event. Tim began a friendship with the Full House family and the next thing we knew, Tim was performing with Full House. Charlie Lawson began playing at Salt River Acres as a very young man. His talent was impressive and we immediately bonded with Charlie, his family and his band. Although Salt River Acres is the only festival Charlie performs, he is one of the most talented young men to have ever graced our stage and we are honored to have him return each year and pay tribute to our audiences with his unique brand of Bluegrass stylings that stretch his 45 minute set into more than 120 minutes. We are not only honored but humbled by Charlie's love of Salt River Acres and the feeling is mutually returned.
With all of our musicians friends we have laughed & cried, told stories and kept secrets, rejoiced in the newfound love of our friends and ached at the loss of their lives. These folks are not just bands we hire to perform, they are your friends and ours. They don't just entertain us, they attain their highest level of performance for Salt River. That is because you, our Bluegrass Family, have invited them into your hearts.
